Abstract

Environmental monitoring and natural resource management have become increasingly complex due to rapid climate change, population growth, industrial development, and increasing pressure on ecosystems. Traditional environmental assessment methods often require extensive human resources, time-consuming field surveys, and large financial investments. The emergence of machine learning has introduced advanced computational approaches that improve the accuracy, efficiency, and scalability of environmental analysis. Machine learning algorithms can process large volumes of environmental data collected through satellites, remote sensing systems, Internet of Things (IoT) devices, sensors, and geographic information systems to identify patterns, predict environmental changes, and support sustainable decision-making. This research explores the applications of machine learning in environmental monitoring and natural resource management by examining its role in climate analysis, biodiversity conservation, water resource management, agricultural sustainability, pollution detection, and ecosystem assessment. Machine learning models such as artificial neural networks, random forests, support vector machines, and deep learning techniques have demonstrated significant potential in predicting environmental risks and optimizing resource utilization. These technologies enable real-time monitoring of environmental conditions and provide valuable insights for policymakers, researchers, and environmental managers.  The study also discusses challenges associated with machine learning adoption, including data availability, computational requirements, algorithm transparency, and ethical considerations. The integration of artificial intelligence with environmental science provides new opportunities for developing sustainable strategies and improving responses to environmental challenges. The findings highlight that machine learning can serve as a powerful tool for achieving efficient natural resource management and supporting global environmental sustainability goals.
